Louisa Carmona is a Swiss designer and artist based in Belgium whose work transitions between material research, object design, and spatial exploration. After completing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design at ECAL — University of Art and Design in Lausanne, and working as a furniture designer in Zürich, she immersed herself in textile research, exploring ancient spinning and weaving techniques with craftspeople in Argentina, Benin, and China. These experiences, combined with a Master’s in Textile Design from ENSAV La Cambre in Brussels, have deeply influenced her approach to design, blending industry with craft. Her practice engages with diverse scales and contexts — from developing a comprehensive materials collection for health-supportive architecture at the Swiss Center for Design and Health to creating site-specific installations for the Horta Museum, reflecting on the cultural and domestic dimensions of household textiles. Through these explorations, she examines the connections formed by materials and reflects on the narratives embodied in objects, gestures, and spaces.
