Porosités
'Porosités' explores the capacity of textiles to act as porous structures, at the intersection of surface and architecture. Through the use of wax, fabric shifts between rigidity and flexibility, becoming both a membrane and a volume. Rather than a simple finish, wax functions as a material of assembly, binding layers together while remaining vulnerable, reversible, and responsive to its environment.
Working with cotton textiles treated with beeswax and paraffin, I developed panels that fold, gather, open, or are traversed, activating space through movement and use. Installed as thresholds or spatial dispositifs, these forms modulate light, circulation, and perception. The work navigates an in-between state – between function and plasticity, protection and exposure – where textile becomes a tool to rethink how space is defined, experienced, and crossed.
