Vagues
This work investigates weaving as a generative process for structuring flat surfaces into volumetric forms. The piece is conceived directly on the loom, with spatial articulation embedded in the weave itself.
It was woven on an industrial Jacquard loom using a multilayered textile system. Layers are selectively interlaced to provide rigidity in specific zones, while unbound areas create pockets – empty spaces between layers that allow for the passage of floating threads.
These threads act as activators: by applying tension, the textile surface responds, forming reliefs and modulating its topography. The interplay between bound and unbound layers enables dynamic manipulation of the fabric, articulating form through the inherent logic of the weave.
